I've found that if you're starting fresh it's no longer possible to become a data analyst without having a degree. Not that a degree is required to do the job, but just that the job market is so picky and flooded with candidates that the people hiring are only looking for people with degrees just to weed out other candidates and make the selection pool smaller.
